I wish you all the best for 2020!

The usual time for reflection and recap of the most popular posts and other 2019 stats of arcisfoodblog.

It was quite humbling to see that the traffic more than doubled this year, although with fewer new posts. These 37 posts were still a mix of travel posts, some top-notch fine dining, exciting new restaurants, but fewer of my own cooking experiments. The last half of 2019 only had 2 recipe posts… Hoshi, the Shiba Inu puppy from the photo, who became part of our family in autumn, is in part “to blame”, but who wouldn’t prefer playing and training with this little rascal over writing blogs?! I do want to get in the kitchen more in 2020 and try out new recipes!

The boring stats themselves are now at the end of the post, so without further ado, these were the 15 most popular posts (the majority are vegetarian dishes!) on arcisfoodblog during 2019.

The Boring Stats

  • Arcisfoodblog went from to 13.630 views from 9.356 visitors from 107 countries in 2018, to 35.573 views from 25.222 visitors from 128 countries! There was one recipe post of a dish by Yotam Ottolenghi that helped significantly to raise the tally, but even without that one, there was a 50% growth!
  • Again, I didn’t reach my personal goal to publish every week, and the posts are getting fewer, as only 37 posts made it to arcisfoodblog this year (of which 11 related to our summer road trip to British Columbia, Canada).
  • The Ottolenghi post also leads to far more hits from search engines, which increased with 10% to 75%, The arcisfoodblog outlets (Facebook, Pinterest, WordPress, and Instagram) are prominent. Still, I also started to notice that my posts are getting picked up in recipe apps and sites, like Chowhound, Reddit, Mastercook, and Paprika.
  • Like previous years, most visitors came from the UK, USA, the Netherlands, Australian, and Canada, but now the Ozzies have overtaken the Dutch by quite a bit. The list of exotic places keeps growing as well. In 2019 also people from Åland Island, Tonga, Macau, Brunei, and Malawi somehow ended up on my blog.
