Happy new year, all!
When reading some other cookery blogs about their new year’s resolutions, it basically boiled down to:
- healthier cooking (sure, I need to shed a few pounds)
- posting more regularly
- more regional and artisanal cooking
After a promising start in November, it was rather quiet here. In the meantime, I did cook a lot, went to a couple of very nice restaurants, and found some fun gadgets. But in the end, I didn’t get around to posting it on this blog. So this year I intend to post here at least once a week (i.e. continuation of my resolution when I started…)
I was quite intrigued by the notion of Malcolm Gladwell that it takes roughly 10.000 hours of practice to achieve mastery in a field. As a hobby cook that is a bit much to commit to, but it made me think about focussing in 2015 on a couple skills/techniques or even cuisines for that matter and just go for it. I definitely do not think that I would have fully mastered whatever I will choose by the end of 2015, but it beats trying out everything and therefore not being able to put the necessary effort in….
