Around the World – Bali – The Local Food – part 2 (Aug 2015)
This the second post about some of the Balinese and Indonesian food we had during our holiday in Bali.
Not entirely local, but for the Dutch version of satay, as well as other Dutch and Balinese specialties you can head over to Oranje Bar (Jl. Pantai Sindu 5 in Sanur). Main differences between this nice pork loin version and the typical Balinese satay is that the meat cubes are about double in size (3x2cm instead of 1,5x1cm) and that the peanut sauce is quite a bit less spicy 😳Talking about spicy: this was the clincher… Beef Rendang @ Warung Lilla (Jalan Bumi Ayu 6 in Sanur) Absolutely no mercy for tourists. 😲 I regularly eat beef rendang in Indonesian restaurants in the Netherlands, but this one was not only one of the spiciest I ever had, but it also was incredibly complex in flavors. Omnomnom…Bebek Betutu spring rolls @Three Monkeys Cafe (Jl. Danau Tamblingan in Sanur). Crispy fried duck in spring roll for a double crunch sensation.Bumbu Bali Pork loin @ Warung Dead Fish (Jl. Pungutan in Sanur)
