For my birthday, I got Jeanine Donofrio’s The Love & Lemons Cookbook. So far, we only made some delicious sandwiches, but more recipes will surely follow…

The Austin, TX-based  Love & Lemons blog that lead to this cookbook was awarded Saveur’s Best Cooking Blog Award. It could have been a serious contender for the Best Looking Blog Award if there was one, as both blog and cookbook are simply stunning!

It contains 100 delicious and easy vegetable-based recipes and basics with many tweaks indicated to accommodate vegan lifestyle / gluten-free dietary requirements. The recipes are not listed per type of course, but rather alphabetically per the main ingredient.

This was a nice and tasty breakfast to kick-off last weekend: Pain Céréal toast with a 2 egg omelet filled with half a diced avocado, various types of shoots and a couple of tablespoons of blanched fresh peas, topped with crumbled feta and a sprinkling of chili flakes. Also delicious with some additional freshly chopped mint!
